Livets Bog, vol. 4
When the truth is adapted for the simple being in the form of a fairy tale, the innermost structure of this fairy tale must still be an absolute expression of the truth and thereby form a synthesis with other genuine accounts of the truth
1184. In this, the first terrestrial existence of "Adam", he was a being in which both the "male principle" and the "female principle" existed and functioned organically. So there was actually no "Eve" as yet. But this also agrees with the account in the "Bible". "Eve", as will be remembered, did not arrive until later, when God saw that it was not good for "Adam" to be alone. So where did "Eve" come from? Well, does the "Bible" not say that she came from "Adam's" "rib", that is, from the organism of the being that already existed? But why does the "Bible" express the arrival or creation of "Eve" on the terrestrial plane in this way? If it were solely in order to adapt the analysis of this creation for the simple being or the as-yet quite primitive terrestrial human being's faculty to understand, there would of course be no reason to relate the account in such a fairy-tale-like way. Why not formulate it in a way that says merely that "Eve" was created at a later point in time? Why not say that she was created from "clay" like "Adam"? For the simple being this would certainly have been sufficient, indeed, even more plausible. Well, this is quite true. But the "Bible" was not intended to be a mere "fairy tale" or "fabrication" for the simple being. Its appearance and terminology were promoted by the greatest sages of mankind. And the sage can certainly formulate his account in such a way that it can be accepted by the simple being, but the real sage is of course an apostle of truth and is not interested in telling "fairy tales". He can and will tell nothing but the truth. When he expounds his wisdom or truth, it is therefore not enough that it is adapted so as to become a fabrication or fairy tale that simple beings can believe in; its innermost structure must also be the "absolute truth" so that other sages or high-intellectual beings can see the real truth expounded in the details of the above-mentioned fairy tale, thus enabling this fairy tale to form a synthesis with all other existing fundamental accounts of the truth or revelations of analyses of real life.
