1185. The above-mentioned does not of course mean that the ordinary intellectual, which means, the cold, intelligent being, can see this "truth" hidden in the fairy tale. Here the words of Christ, "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven", express a scientific truth. The ordinary intellectual or cold, intelligent being that no longer has religious "instinct" cannot see anything other than the cold, naked, literal form of each of the revelations of the truth that are adapted for simple beings. And since this literal form is not, of course, fashioned in such a way as to express an outer, scientifically detailed analysis, the intelligent being rejects the above-mentioned revelation as meaningless dogma. And since it does not as yet know the real truth and does not have the ability to find it in life itself, the above-mentioned being becomes what we call a "materialist", a "disbeliever" or "atheist", which is the same as a "denier of truth". Sages, who through their own personal experience have long since become familiar with the reality or absolute truth of life itself and are therefore not dependent on the wordings or terminologies of others, easily see the truth radiating through any terminology or wording in which it is to be found, regardless of how simply its originator had to word it. And this is also the case when it is a matter of the dogmas or thousand-year-old traditional accounts of the "Bible", which all contain the truth but expounded in such a way that the simple being can sense it as truth, thus creating belief and confidence in life, and the sage can sense it as a happy recognition of his own inner identity with the truth.
