At his first appearance "Adam" was neither a specifically "male being" nor a specifically "female being". Only one sex existed in the "Garden of Eden"
1187. So it is written that God created "Eve" from "Adam's rib" in order to point out that the creation of "Eve" was different from the creation of "Adam". In what way then did it differ? Well, let us now take a little look at what the "Bible" really says. It has already shown us that "Adam" was a being that existed before "Eve". This being was thus neither a specifically "female being" nor a specifically "male being". In the "Garden of Eden" no principle of mating and no state of marriage existed, and there were not two sexes but only "one sex". But where there was only "one sex", both the poles, the "feminine" and the "masculine", had of course to be incarnated in the same being. So this being became a unit consisting of these two poles and had therefore to appear as a "double-poled" being. But it was of course this circumstance that He expressed as an impediment when He said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him".
