1194. So for what purpose was "Adam" transformed? Well, did God not state precisely that "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him"? No, it was not good for "Adam" to be "alone". "Adam" (the human being at its first, feeble plant stage) was, as will be remembered, a "sleeping" being. And it could not possibly be good for the living being to go on "sleeping". If this were the case the being would never again be initiated into the fundamental consciousness of the divine father. It would never have attained so far as to master the physical plane, and would never have seen all the glories that the Godhead reveals on this plane. It would never have come to follow the Godhead's thoughts. It would still be a being that at the very most could only "have an inkling of" pleasantness and unpleasantness.
