It is of course obvious that this light, perceived by the being's temporary, primitive senses, could not be the finely detailed experience of terrestrial and superterrestrial divinity that the being would be granted in the form of cosmic consciousness at a later point in time. For the moment the pleasurable reactions stimulated by a being of the opposite sex were, like the other sensory experiences, merely sensory reactions at night. They were as yet totally devoid of decorative details in the form of sound and light. They were as yet merely undetailed, coarse sensations. The beings were as yet almost totally ignorant of what was really happening. They felt merely that their mutual proximity gave them a pleasurable sensation compared to which all other sensations were almost nothing. The being's still poor intellectual and mental life, and the exercise of its will dictated by it, was then also completely attuned to attaining the sensation of this divine proximity.
