Beings can be influenced only by those points of view of other beings that are related to their own, thereby giving rise to the formation of groups or "flocks"
1238. It is true that such a being can be more or less influenced by other beings' points of view, but only by points of view that are more or less related to its own. It is, however, not interested in points of view that are directly at variance with its own view. It is therefore evident here that "like plays best with like". "Thieves" must therefore by nature associate with "thieves", "swindlers" with other "swindlers", "avengers" with "avengers" and so on. It is of course exactly the same principle that makes elephants associate with elephants, and roe-deer with roe-deer or in short forms the basis for the "formation of flocks". "Criminals" club together in gangs, kindred politicians club together in a group or a party, religious beings form sects and so on. All associations are thus indicative of the fact that beings on the same step, beings with the same experiences and the same view of life, belong together.
