1241. So the being cannot possibly be transformed by brute force alone. A being's transformation from one step in evolution to another does not come about by an "order" or "command" from someone with physical power. With such brutal, physical power a being can be forced to comply with any given commands or decrees, but if these orders are not in harmony with the individual's inner feeling or sense of justice it will feel that it is "unjustly" treated. This "unjust" treatment will in turn give rise to antipathy, anger or hatred towards those who are the sources and users of the power. And an even more brutal force is therefore needed to make the individual obey. One can thereby sometimes force an individual to "obey", but this "obedience" will entail despair, lethargy and depression, if it does not still entail rage and vindictiveness in the individual towards the person in power. And such a being trained to slavishly obey spheres of interest to which it is glaringly opposed or which it does not understand has hereby ceased being a normal individual. Its will is broken. It has no longer any real appetite for life. In this way direct, personal "revenge", "punishment" and oppression deform the individual instead of perfecting it. And in the Bible's description of the "Fall" do we not see that the promise of "death" and "damnation" if the beings acted contrary to the prohibition was unable to perfect them? The "Fall" had to occur. "Adam" and "Eve" did not let themselves be influenced by prohibition or the prospect of "death" or "punishment".
