1249. Does the above then mean that societies should do away with all statutory administration of justice together with their "prisons" and "penitentiaries" as quickly as possible, thereby giving all their "younger brothers" in evolution the right and the freedom – with their primitive consciousness or mentality – to rob, plunder, steal, lie, defraud, murder and mutilate as much as they please?
No, of course it does not mean this.
But even if it did, it would in no way change a single thing about the present-day system of the nations or societies, for where is there to be found the individual human being at whose command all these judicial measures of today could be abolished and all the doors of the "prisons" and "penitentiaries" be opened, thus granting complete mental and physical freedom to all so-called "criminals"?
He certainly does not exist on Earth.
But where then is the collective authority that, by a sudden dictate, could bring about such a measure?
If all the nations and states of the Earth could agree on implementing the above-mentioned measure, it would of course then be possible.
It would without doubt be possible.
But being able to implement or create this agreement between all the authorities of the Earth does not lie within any human power.
It lies as far beyond the domain of these authorities as the Earth's orbit in space around the sun.
So divinely logical and regular are the laws of life itself that each of the Earth's authorities, by virtue of these, stand on such different steps in evolution that their moral attitudes and views of "justice" cannot possibly be the same.
Each step in evolution is the same as a sphere of experience that must differ from other steps in evolution by lying above or below them on the ladder of evolution.
For this reason what is "justice" for some of these authorities, states, peoples or nations will be more or less "injustice" from the viewpoints of other authorities, all depending on how much these steps in evolution deviate from those of the former authorities.
Is this not precisely why morality manifests itself in the world's three great principal religions, which thus means, its three great principal points of view?
Is it conceivable that, by means of some superior material dictate, these three religions could be united forming a glorious unit with regard to their view of life and existence, and thereby of morality and humaneness?
Is it conceivable that faithful followers of Christianity could be turned into "Buddhists" or "Moslems" or that the devoted followers of these two religions could be turned into "Christians" by a dictate, by a purely military or judicial statute?
And yet at core these religions are closely related.
It is true that with evolution the beings of these religions will gradually become more closely related, but this will absolutely not come about by means of a dictate, but solely by gradual evolution and development.
As the material science of the West and its technical and chemical development have spread to all the people of the world, they have of course had more or less the same experiences, the same forms of war, revolution and suffering, the same difficulties, the same speculative, financial misuse, that is, the same egoistic exploitation of their fellow beings' resources and capacity for work, as that which the "Christian" nations themselves sigh and groan under.
Indeed, is it not precisely this development that has triggered the bloody events that today, while these lines are being written, are raging across the countries?
With these common experiences all authorities will gradually acquire the same material of experience and thereby attain the same moral points of view or a common moral perception.
It is of course precisely this gradual transformation that will make all the people of the Earth "one flock and one shepherd".
But anyone who does not understand this today but tries to turn the Earth into one kingdom by a mere command or by a military or judicial statute, will fail miserably and will himself be crushed by the power with which he would force others, would go ahead of Nature itself, indeed, would go ahead of Providence's own appointed time schedule for this plan for mankind.
No, there is absolutely no danger of the countries' "prisons" and "penitentiaries" being thrown open by a sudden dictate or by a mere command, and peaceful people being subjected to the arbitrary will of "criminals".
