1271. "Substance" in a pure form (unmixed state) thus certainly does not exist in life or the universe. But this does not prevent us from being able to analyse the manifested "substances" or "combinations of substances" back down into seven original basic forms. This in turn means that we can observe all the various "substances" or combinations of energies that occur in the universe and see that they all without exception constitute a product or result of seven different basic reactions. Each of these basic reactions thus constitutes the principal analysis of "substance" itself. But since none of these basic reactions occurs separately as an independent unit, but on the contrary always and absolutely inevitably as a characteristic of a constituent of a substance that has already been put together from other substances, we will thus only analytically be able to distinguish between the seven specific basic reactions or kinds of energy whose interplay makes up all other kinds of energy, substances or materials. Since this analysis thus lies totally outside the material tangibility that is a prerequisite for physical sensing, it can never be detected or appear as a result of physical sensing. It is exclusively cosmic in nature, and, like, for example, the I (X1), the creative faculty existing beyond all creations (X2), as well as the ultimate result of all existing created things (X3), constitutes a cosmic analysis. And here, in the attachment of the living being's I to matter, we find the innermost analysis of all substance. As we mentioned previously, this innermost analysis reveals to us that the innermost constituents of any "substance" whatsoever are "seven forms of reaction". These seven forms are present in absolutely everything and everyone. That they constitute seven basic forms, and are the absolutely basic content of the "substance" itself or of every manifestation of energy is established as fact by the circumstance that they render possible the boundlessness of creation that the universe constitutes, just as the total lack of even one single one of these seven would render impossible the emergence of any living being, and the existence of any "substance". These seven forms of basic reactions in every "substance" or in every living being's manifestation are, as our readers have long since understood, the basic energies described in Livets Bog: instinct, gravity, feeling, intelligence, intuition, memory and the mother energy or superconsciousness of the living being, which regulates these energies.
