1278. There was thus a time when the planet on which we live today did not exist on the physical plane. But since its existence on this plane today is nonetheless an irrefutable fact, it is of course just as irrefutable a fact that all the matter, all the forces, all the kinds of energy, all the forms of living beings that today are to be found on, or constitute, our planet were once in a state that was not physical. That they nonetheless existed emerges as a fact in that "something cannot possibly come from nothing". But if the matter and life that today constitute our planet thus existed, but were not "physical" in nature, they could have been absolutely only "spiritual" or "ray-formed" in nature. That all this matter was "spiritual" in nature does not, of course, imply that it was a haphazard, chaotic, dead mass, for if it had been, why then should it not have continued being just as chaotic and dead a mass on the physical plane? If it is a fact that, from its past emergence as a shining cloud or state of fire it has undergone such a logical and perfect systematic process of creation that it has been able to lead to the glorious result we know as a mankind that can begin to master the elements and, through the experiences gained from this, begin to follow God's thoughts, begin to experience the most profound solution to the mystery of life, there will thus be nothing with which one can substantiate the view that the Earth, and everything upon it, in its "spiritual" form has been a lifeless mass of substance with neither plan nor purpose. Why should this systematic regularity have begun only when matter was being transformed into physical, visible substances? Everything thus shows, or renders factual, that matter, in its "spiritual" or "ray-formed" state or structure, constituted the fulfilment of the preceding conditions that made it possible for it, in its later physical state, to constitute the previously mentioned result. But by fulfilling such conditions, matter reveals that its spiritual existence was just as logical and systematic as its physical existence.
