The same laws that apply to our own organism also apply to the great systems or organisms of the universe, and thereby reveal the universe as a "living being"
1282. The solar system is evolving. Its "organs", which means, its stars and planets, increasingly break away from the solar being's original state of fire, become increasingly individual and thereby to a corresponding degree become increasingly fit for their purpose or intention in the collected organism of the solar being itself, just as they of course will also degenerate and cease to exist when this is to the advantage of, or is the fate of, the "mother organism", the solar system. We thus find that precisely the same laws apply to the great systems and organisms out in space as apply within our body. The same logic, the same regularity and purposefulness, the revelation of the same basic energies: instinct, gravity, feeling and so on, apply equally everywhere, in the microcosmos and macrocosmos as well as in the mesocosmos. Since these basic energies are the energies of consciousness itself, are mental substance, are thought, will, desire and intention, the entire universe is evidently an expression of life. The universe is most certainly a "living being".
