The "mother energy"
1283. But the fact that the universe or cosmos is thus a "living", functioning organism would never have emerged if another factor had not existed as a fundamental reality. This factor is not a form of "matter" that can be directly perceived by the senses, as is the case with the other forms of matter or substances of daily life. The existence of this factor is established, however, through the irrefutable fact that the other substances or energies mentioned here each appear to be logically organised, each with a speciality that is absolutely indispensable to the whole. We see thus how indispensable water is for animal and vegetable existence. We see how indispensable blood is for our own organism. We see that salt, sugar and all the other chemicals, each with its own reaction, are indispensable factors within the form of existence in which we experience life at the moment, just as we have also seen that even the diverse living beings, each with its specific nature, sensory endowment and ability to react to its surroundings, likewise each constitutes or represents a speciality that is particularly necessary for the whole or the continued existence of the entire universe. The fact that the six different basic energies are thus combined and manifested in new "combinations of energies" through which a multitude of forms of substances arise, each of which constitutes an indispensable, specific material for the well-being of the whole, discloses the presence of the factor or the "something" through which this vast organisation manifests itself in this way, not by chance but logically, purposefully or according to plan. But something that can move or organise substances or energies must in itself be energy too, for this organisation or movement of the substances or the materials in themselves can exist only as a reaction of energy. This new factor we have arrived at here must thus be "energy". If it were not, it would have to be absolute "stillness" or "immobility". And with absolute "stillness" or "immobility", it would be absolutely impossible to move anything. So here we have arrived at a new form of energy. And, as readers have already long since understood, this form of energy is the seventh basic energy, the "mother energy".
