1300. But who put this straitjacket or these mental fetters on the single individual? Well, here the answer must of course be that the "prophets" did, that is, certain beings sent out by the Godhead, beings qualified through having a certain form of "initiation" and a mental overview enabling them to see what determines the ordinary terrestrial human being's physical happiness. And that is of course very largely true. But this does not of course have to mean that this limit marking what the individual may and may not do is an eternal, impassable barrier and that the life limited by this barrier is the absolutely highest and most perfect one that can exist or be experienced. If being a "husband" or a "wife", if being only a "specifically male being" or a "specifically female being" and the very highest sensations of life experienced by such beings were the most perfect life that could be attained or experienced, of what use then would be the great ideals, the great promises of perfection and experience of "Nirvana", the "kingdom of heaven" – where one "neither marries nor is given in marriage" – or forms of existence based on one-hundred-per-cent mutual neighbourly love between the individuals of the flock, that the great world redeemers have given terrestrial mankind? Does the essence of these ideals not constitute an entirely different foundation for the laws of life than those previously mentioned? Does it not say that "thou shalt love thy God above all things and thy neighbour as thyself"? Is it not further pointed out that "this is the fulfilling of the law"? And have not these latter ideas been accepted by millions of people or by societies comprising millions of members? Have they not been preached for centuries from thousands of pulpits as the "authorised state religion"?
