1304. And what then happens to the "Jewish people" after this divine speech and education that constitutes its unhappy fate? Do not the "Jewish people", like all other peoples and single individuals who discover that they have made a mistake, not change course? When a normal being discovers that the path it is following does not lead to happiness, but on the contrary leads to nothing but unhappiness, then it changes course as well as it can, and seeks to turn around and aim for happiness. In life it is normal to steer towards happiness, and abnormal to steer towards unhappiness. Any being that consciously steers towards unhappiness can be regarded only as an "abnormal" being. And this applies to the single individual as much as to a people or nation. And the "Jewish people" is no exception to this rule. And is it not so that the "Jews" are gradually beginning to grow further and further away from their strict, orthodox religion? Are there not very many examples of "Jews" who have married beings that their own orthodox religion would regard as "heathens"? Do we not also see many examples of "Jews" who with absolute sincerity and joy have become "citizens" of nations or states that their traditional orthodox religion also calls "heathen"? Are there not innumerable examples of "Jews" today who are infringing their original moral laws in ways that would previously have meant punishment or exclusion from the "Jewish community"? In the leading states do we not also find unselfish "Jewish" geniuses at the head of many different sectors of society? Has it not transpired that world-famous specialists or geniuses within medicine, atomic research, law, political science and so on had to a very great extent "Jewish" blood in their veins? Has it not emerged that not all "Jews" use their genius in the "business principle's" camouflaged system of plundering and money-lending, but that these systems today have within their sphere more and more instigators or geniuses who belong to quite other races than the "Jewish" one? It seems as if "non-Jewish" races, which today persecute the "Jews" with absolutely unimpeded greed, have acquired the "Jewish" genius for the world of "business". What is the authorised "business system" within European culture other than a largely bloody exploitation of fellow beings' working capacity and their potential for manifesting or creating, a heartless plundering of the fruits of other beings' physical and mental abilities? (Readers will here remember the fourth chapter of "Livets Bog".) The "non-Jewish" races have certainly learnt an enormous amount from the "Jews". From a "business or commercial point of view" they themselves have become "Jews of genius".
