1326. There is thus absolutely no reason for any other people or any other race to persecute the "Jewish people" for its connection to the "false principle of business". As we have seen here, the "bank-account culture" or the "principle of the moneylender" animates the whole world. No people and no "civilised" state can today claim to be free of this culture or principle. This culture or this principle completely controls their daily life, forming the basis of their "politics", their military actions and their physical differences of station or class division. It turns the human being into a tramp or a Croesus. It determines the being's social position and access to the admiration and respect of the general public and the press and to membership of "high society", which means the "capitalists", the "upper class", the "bourgeoisie", that is that part of mankind that is today most "Jewish". Must not the social advantages of the people of this class lead them to believe that they are "God's chosen people"? Must not a state or a people with a similar position believe that it is "God's chosen" people? Do not, on any account, believe that the "Jewish people" are a unique phenomenon, or that the "Jews" are a "pariah" or "outcast" among nations. The more one judges them, the more one judges oneself and reveals one's own total ignorance about the evolution of mankind or its passage through the spiral cycle, if, indeed, one does not simply reveal that any indignation one may feel is camouflaged envy of a "Jew" who has secured precisely the social position, the advantages or the kind of "bank account" that one had wanted or fought to make one's own with the entire strength of one's mind. If this position had become one's own, then there would of course have been nothing in one's consciousness that would have reacted and denounced oneself as a "Jew", not to say a "moneylender", in the way that one now characterises the situation because it passed one by and became the fate of one's neighbour. One must certainly always remember the great weakness of vision or blindness that sets in when it is a matter of searching or evaluating one's own mistakes, and the great clarity of vision that prevails when it is one's neighbour's mistakes that one wants to draw attention to. One still cannot see the "beam" in one's own eye, while one finds it terribly easy to see the very smallest, tiny, microscopic phenomenon or the "mote in one's brother's eye". Indeed, the principle that turned the name of the "Jewish people" into a term of abuse is certainly not anything specifically "Jewish", just as it could never become anything specifically "European", "American, "Russian" or "Chinese" or the like. It is not a characteristic of any single people, but it is an unavoidable section of the cycle from "animal" to "human being" that every single being and every single people must pass through. Only ignorance and naivety form the basis for any claim asserting the contrary.
