"Dictatorship" or the final repercussions from a past, heathen world impulse caused the "day of judgment" and its own capitulation in the face of the effects of the light world impulse that create for mankind the "good will" of "peace" or "love"
1340. We have certainly seen these heathen mental repercussions wash like waves right up on the shores of the twentieth century with great force in order there, with their lethal embracing of all independent spiritual life and higher intellectual culture, to smother once again the cosmic rays of the light world impulses. And a flood of blood, tears, mutilation, death and destruction surged over the Earth. Thrones began to crumble, kingdoms perished. Culture and civilisation became the kilometre-long stretches of common graves, heaps of ruins and piles of corpses. People's mental sky was darkened and they cried out through the night to the eternal Father: "Where are you"? And behold, the last poisonous rays of the hundreds-of-thousands-of-years-old heathen world impulse died away. The "day of judgment" had drawn to a close. The "sheep" were separated from the "goats". The "animal" in the human being proceeded towards "death", but the "human being" in the animal proceeded towards "resurrection". Over the terrestrial shores the eternal light now began to shine with superterrestrial brilliance. The dark continents and seas, the bloody battlefields of the past, war's common graves and heaps of ruins are beginning to take on a heavenly patina. In the radiant sunshine of peace and love the jubilation and joy of terrestrial mankind will blend with the Christmas carol of the "heavenly hosts": "Glory be to God on the highest! On Earth peace, and good will toward men!".
