1351. But today it is different. The terrestrial human being is about to wake up from its "dream". The "sleeping draught" (the sacraments) is no longer sought after as much as it was before. People have become aware of its effects. They are beginning to understand that a better world must exist – also on the physical plane. They are not satisfied with a beautiful "dream world" beyond death. Nor can they really reconcile themselves with the idea of an innocent man having to suffer for the "sins" of others. Nor are people satisfied with a "father" from whom the "forgiveness of sin" can be bought by abandoning an innocent being to torture and mutilation leading to death, just as people also refuse to acknowledge a godhead that allows everyone to burn alive or, in some other gory, inquisitorial way, subjects them to sadistic torture and execution because they cannot accept such a providence. Indeed, people are on the whole against capital punishment and other forms of "punishment", for they begin to understand that every being must naturally perceive and act on the basis of the imaginative powers and sensory abilities with which it has been endowed. How else could there be a difference between people? A human being, after all, cannot think and perceive as intellectually as a being whose sensory abilities and intellect belong to a far higher step in evolution than its own. All so-called "crimes" or "amoral" acts are just as inevitably an indication of a being's step in evolution as "moral" and "idealistic" acts are. Why then should one kind of beings be "punished" and not another? Should beings be "punished" because they are less evolved? Those beings who are waking up from the religious or mental sleep (superstition) are thus beginning to understand that less evolved beings, that is those whom society or the flock call "criminals", must be "educated" and "nurtured", and not tortured or executed, just as sick people must be healed. And the awakening beings begin to see too that the material distribution of the world's assets is not perfect either. It cannot be in accordance with the human being's innate and absolute cosmic right that some people have to starve and work themselves into the grave or live in destitution, dressed in rags, while others wear silk and velvet, and fatally wreck themselves through wealth, gluttony and laziness, just as these beings do not accept the established churches and religious societies as the "only salvation". Remembering the dark dreams or mental nightmare mentioned above, God is sought in another way. This other way is through humanity and neighbourly love. Acceptable explanations to the riddles of life are found only through the phenomena that give all fellow beings equal justice and power, and show true humanity and neighbourly love to be the very highest science. This mental attitude is true, real "communism", and those who have this attitude are correspondingly true or real "communists".
