War or darkness is not a terrestrial human invention, but an organic function originating in the being's primordial desire
1377. Since darkness or so-called "evil" is thus an indispensable factor in the divine process of creation without which no form of light or happy existence could occur, it is thus obvious that terrestrial human darkness in the form of war, with its mutilation, murder and killing, is not a terrestrial human invention, but something that expresses a nature far more profound and definitely drawn up and laid down in a divine world plan that existed long before the emergence of terrestrial mankind. Just as the murderous or dark nature laid down in this world plan can come into existence or be manifested only by virtue of the fulfilment of specific predetermined conditions for its release, so too can that same nature perish or fall back into naivety or an elemental state only by fulfilling specific, equally predetermined conditions. The fulfilment of these conditions constitutes the being's primordial desire. This primordial desire, as already explained previously in Livets Bog, is rooted in the superconsciousness or "X2" and is the first organic function. It is this desire that leads all the being's mental functions into rhythms or cycles. It is this desire that forms the foundation of the being's hunger and satiation. It is thus in itself the principle of "hunger and satiation". It is this desire that keeps every basic energy in its particular cycle and its particular relationship to the other basic energies in the spiral's six different kingdoms, as is shown in symbol no. 9.* This "primordial desire" thus determines the being's mental hunger, whether it be for a "law-of-Moses existence" based on the killing principle or for the Christ mentality of light or neighbourly love. It has thus the effect that the entire state of human desire and exercise of will, and the ensuing manifestation, is organic in nature. When terrestrial mankind finds itself in a race to create sophisticated murder weapons or ingenious military equipment, its mental attitude is rooted in the rhythmic functioning of the "primordial desire". It is thus determined entirely organically.
