Why war or "evil" becomes habitual consciousness, "righteous indignation", "holy wrath", the "field of honour" or is expressed as "defence"
1379. The organic or mental tendency that manifests itself as war or lack of love has been built up as "habitual consciousness" by the ideologies or ideals of the old world impulse, which fully uphold or worship the "right of the stronger", which is the guiding principle in the animal kingdom. In a zone where the highest perception of consciousness is the "right of the stronger", war is absolutely imperative. Only through war could the "stronger" being, and thereby the supposedly rightful possessor of power be found. But in such a zone it was the ideal to become nothing less than the "stronger", for otherwise one could not possibly be "right", but would have to be a slave of the "stronger". That war and the worship of war therefore became fundamental to such a zone was inevitable. The fact that it had therefore gradually to become a deeply rooted "habitual consciousness" in the beings is equally inevitable. And it is with this "habitual consciousness" that the terrestrial human beings of today are equipped. And it is this "habitual consciousness" that they still keep alive through their illusions about the identity of war as "righteous indignation", "holy wrath", the "field of honour" and so on. If the manifestations of the killing principle or war now appear in the consciousness of a good many people under such concepts as "righteous indignation", "holy wrath" and the "field of honour", which all the warring parties prefer to express under the concept of "defence", it can be due only to the fact that the "primordial desire" in the terrestrial human superconsciousness has already begun to turn the beings' psyche away from darkness and towards the light.
