Livets Bog, vol. 4
Since the creator or the divine something is an eternal phenomenon, existence has meaning. Existence becomes the culmination of "justice"
1410. But since this "something" is thus the core of life, is that which is actually "alive" in all manifestations, in all organisms or bodies and is thereby that which "commands" or "rules" the materials, the organisms, their creation or emergence and their death or cessation, it likewise becomes evident that the living being consists of two things, namely a "something" and the expressions, products or manifestations of this "something", in brief, the "creator" and that which is "created". Of these two things only that which is "created" can be changeable, can have come into existence and can then be made to perish, while the "creator" cannot possibly have come into existence. The "creator" is of course "that" which desires the emergence of that which is "created", the emergence of the manifestation, and it is the dictate of the will of this creator that makes things happen. But if the "creator", like that which is "created", has come into existence, whose will, wish and desire has then commanded this "creator" to come into existence? Since that which is "created", which means, all existing manifestations – both those of the forces of Nature and those of living beings – can have come into existence only by virtue of a prior "creator", this "creator" must thus be the absolute source of all the things. And prior to this "creator" nothing whatsoever could thus have existed other than an absolute "nothing". But a "nothing" cannot possibly become a "something", just as a "something" cannot possibly become a "nothing". It is thereby evident from this that this divine "something" which is the source of all things, behind all outer phenomena, forces of Nature, suns, planets and stars, as well as within every living organism is an "eternal" phenomenon, for it could not have come into existence from "nothing" and can similarly never become "nothing". This "something" is thus behind every form of life; it is behind the emergence or appearance of every organism or body, and still exists after the dissolution of these organisms or bodies. The emergence, appearance and dissolution of the bodies are thus merely details in the "eternal existence" of this "something". Without these details this "eternal existence" could thus never in any way whatsoever be defined and could not possibly be an "experience". This being so, existence as a whole suddenly has meaning. Everything that previously appeared to be a culmination of grievous unfairness or injustice, now suddenly emerges as the culmination of "justice".
