Livets Bog, vol. 4
The passage of the living being up the ladder of evolution in the form of immortality or eternity is the only thing that can make the being "one with the Father", and thereby turn it into "the way, the truth and the life"
1414. But if the living being climbs up the "ladder of evolution" in this way, which thus means that it goes through all the various steps or phases of evolution, then the "ladder of evolution" or the cycle of existence becomes a new, unshakeable proof that life or existence is one-hundred-per-cent "love". The passage of the infinitely or eternally ascending steps or spirals of the ladder of evolution are thus the very colouring of life, the very detailing and defining of eternity for the living being, whose experience of life is thereby an experience of "eternity" being identical with its own life. Can the Godhead give His son any greater love than this: to let him experience himself being far beyond time and space and constituting "eternity" itself? The life of the living being thus constitutes "immortality". Time and space are merely details or "moments" in its eternal being. No greater meaning of life and existence exists or will ever exist. How could it? What can be greater than "immortality"? And what can survive time and space with all the glories of the world other than the living being in the form of "eternity"? In truth, this is the only phenomenon that makes it possible for the son of God or the living being to be "one with the Father", to be "the Truth, the Way and the Life" or to be "God's image" or the object of other beings' belief so that "they should not perish but have everlasting life".
