Livets Bog, vol. 4
Any form of unkindness towards one's neighbour is an attack on or sabotage of the structure of the universe itself in our own sphere of consciousness or manifestation
1417. It is, of course, true that these "microbes" have not the slightest idea that the superior force they are confronting is so gigantic. They live in the fantastic superstition that it is only their "neighbour" they are fighting against. They fail to understand that it is absolutely not a question of what their neighbour does towards them, but solely what they do towards their neighbour, because it is absolutely only there that they can be for or against the structure of the universe. One's neighbour and the universe are absolutely identical. What one does to one's neighbour, one also does to the universe. Since the universe is "love", and this form of manifestation is a prerequisite for any real, normal sense of well-being or so-called highest happiness, any form of "unkindness" towards one's neighbour will be an attack on the structure of the universe itself in our own sphere of consciousness and manifestation. But by attacking this structure in our own sphere, we of course liquidate to a greater or lesser extent the very thing that determines our normal mental and bodily structure, and thereby our own normal sense of well-being. It is these disturbances in the normal sense of well-being that result in all forms of war and of people's ensuing unhappy fate. It is not so surprising that the result of wars is inevitably mutilation, disablement, mental illness and death rattle, where it does not lead to mounting the "war crimes gallows", indeed, even for the "victors".
