1418. It is the microbe that has departed from the course marked out for it in the universe and thereby lost its footing in the face of the vast element of "love" that, in the form of the principal force in the universe, speeds across the worlds, the planets, the cities of suns, giving life to the stars and, in so doing, to the universe. The fact that the beings throw themselves on their neighbour as boldly and as frequently as they do only goes to show that the divine process of creation is not yet finished. The being cannot see the identity of its neighbour with the structure of the universe, and thus does not understand that it is actually this structure it is attacking with any form of anger or indignation. That so-called "holy wrath" and "righteous indignation" are no exceptions to this is naturally a matter of course. But through the entire, vast, large-scale exertion of energy that is manifested through the development of all higher religious morality it is established as fact that Providence's process of creation also aims at transforming the being so as to be in harmony with this structure of "universal love" or this structure of the universe in order thereby to guarantee the being a permanent highest normal state of well-being. Through churches, temples, clergy, sages, initiated beings and world redeemers the mental course of the beings has been changed completely in favour of "neighbourly love". The highest moral commandment of today states: "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, this is the fulfilment of all the laws". And wherever one quite seriously fails to fulfil this law, one mobilises a lot of energy in order to camouflage one's infringement as "neighbourly love". This is the reason why everyone calls such an act "self-defence". No one will openly admit that they are trying to murder their neighbour. They will all take cover under the claim that their neighbour is the attacker. It is he who has done wrong. One can thus see in a multitude of areas that there is an extremely great tendency in the direction of the development of humaneness, which is of course the same as "neighbourly love". The entire legal system of the civilised world seeks continuously to improve itself in the direction of humaneness. One thus does not dare to be openly against this humaneness.
