1446. Just imagine how enormous are the areas of life or the "living" things around the individual that it regards as "dead", and how microscopically tiny is that part of this huge area of life or this universe that it regards as "living". If, for example, one particular tiny cell in our organism regards itself and other cells of the same standing as the highest and only "living things" in our organism, and everything else in this organism as "dead" forces, such as the heart, lungs, liver and glands or the "living being" itself that we, with our entire organism, constitute, we would have a picture of the attitude and relationship of the terrestrial human being to real or eternal life, to the Godhead or Providence and hereby to the absolute eternal truth.
      Just as this cell, if it could reason, would claim that no human being existed, or rather no living being higher than itself, but that everything else in the organism, which constitutes its universe, was merely "dead" matter or lifeless forces of Nature, so does the materialistic, terrestrial human being also assert that no life form higher than itself exists in the universe, and that there is consequently no life on other globes or worlds in the cosmos, which is the organism in which it is itself a "cell". In truth, the "dead being" can see nothing but "dead things" and must therefore worship "death" instead of "life". And thus one now has a better understanding of the pronouncement of the world redeemer when he said, "... let the dead bury their dead".
