1485. But this attitude is in reality merely a superficial division. From the very outset all people are religious; indeed, they cannot live at all without being so. "Irreligiousness" is therefore merely a state of mind in which the being has lost all faith in the traditional morality and understanding of a providence or a godhead of the past since the way these are interpreted is in glaring opposition to its present scientific or intellectual sensory perception. The moment that the religious laws and superterrestrial details become true science and can be investigated or checked by the intellect, there will be thousands or millions of terrestrial human beings who will be ready to place their understanding and their life completely within the sphere of interest of this science. Then their religiousness will rise once again to the visible, physical surface. These beings can be likened almost to a root whose top has been cut off. The root is the "primordial religious" principle that dwells within every human being; the top is the traditional dogmatic ecclesiastical understanding of morality or life. In "irreligious" terrestrial human beings this "top" has thus wasted away. But by nourishing the "root" with scientific or exact facts, the "root", which is thus not "dead" but is hiding under the physically visible surface, will begin to grow again. And the "root" will then gradually manifest itself as a beautiful, vigorous, colourful plant, an eternal, conscious son of God or "human being in God's image" in God's great "Garden of Eden" made manifest in the form of the cosmos or universe.
