The return of the great irreligious mass of people to an official, real acknowledgement of the Godhead cannot possibly come about through sectarianism or herding people together
1486. If the great "irreligious" mass of people is to return to an official acknowledgement of the Godhead, and of Providence, of the absolute perfection of existence, it can no longer come about through forming sects, herding people together into groups or cliquishness or through any other way of restraining or mentally imprisoning the soul, but exclusively by showing scientifically or logically that the absolutely one thing needful in daily existence is the development of the liberation of one's neighbour from all the stipulations, in the form of dogmas, egoism and intolerance, that those around him have used to restrain him – we of course being those around him. As long as our consciousness is nothing but a mental space in which we fetter our neighbour with our more or less absolutely egoistic wishes and desires, we are a phenomenon that is harmful to this neighbour. What is then more natural than that this neighbour, which means, all living beings around us, will emanate an energy that is against our existence and will persecute it in every way, because the fall or destruction of our existence means their freedom.
