Neighbourly love constitutes the principle with which the sun manifests itself
1497. What then is "neighbourly love"? Since the term "neighbour" is expressive of all fellow living beings with whom one comes into contact, "neighbourly love" is thus the same as "love for all living beings". One must thus caress all living beings with one's mind and being, quite regardless of how they may reveal themselves. But this is exactly the same as the very principle with which the sun, and thereby Nature, manifests itself. The sun shines, as we know, on both the "evil" and the "good", and the rain falls upon both the "just" and the "unjust".
