Why something that one being senses as "pleasant" can be sensed by another as "unpleasant"
1576. Thus the entire principle of the experience of life is promoted through the organic regulation of the senses by the "highest fire" in such a way that every "feeling of pleasure" or "feeling of wellbeing", as well as every feeling of an opposite nature, is not a question of the nature or structure of the object of the experience, but a question of the temporary position of the originator of the senses in its organic, sexual cycle or the "highest fire". We have seen that the same thing can be perceived as both "pleasant" and "unpleasant", according to the adjustment and relationship of these senses to the main stem of the sexual principle, quite without this thing or sensory object having changed. It is therefore not so surprising that what can be sensed by one being as something "pleasant", can be perceived by another at the same time only as something "unpleasant". This is thus due entirely to the fact that the senses of the two beings in question have different connections to their own sexual principle's main stem or "highest fire".
