1579. Symbol no. 12 symbolises in particular the alternating principle of hunger and satiation and its effects. In its uppermost section we have seen the spiral cycle's two great principles of contrast indicated by the white and dark area. In the area second from the top of the symbol we see several coloured sections that, like stitches, are drawn out from one another. These coloured sections express the principle of organisms or bodies. The first of these sections in the spiral cycle on the left (coloured red) is the principle of plant organisms. Out of plant organisms the principle of animal organisms gradually develops, which is indicated in the symbol by the next figure (the orange one). Out of the principle of the animal organism develops the principle of the real human organism (coloured yellow). Out of this principle develops in its turn the organism principle for beings in the kingdom of wisdom (coloured green). Out of the organism principle for the kingdom of wisdom develops the organism principle for beings in the divine world (blue colour). And out of this latter principle develops in its turn the organism principle for beings in the kingdom of bliss (coloured indigo). And from here the principle of the plant organism in its turn flows out. And with this we find ourselves in a new continuing spiral cycle.
      Below the coloured area described here, which symbolises the evolution of organisms or bodies in the spiral cycle, we see in the symbol another coloured section. This section symbolises the effects of the evolution of organisms in the six kingdoms of the spiral cycle. In each of these kingdoms or sections we see in the symbol a light circular figure and a dark one. They indicate that every kingdom, within its own local sphere, has two principles of contrast – "light" and "darkness", or "liking" and "disliking". The light figure thus means light, heaven or paradise, while the dark figure expresses darkness or "hell".
