1608. The first great stage in the mission of the "highest fire" or the transformation of the living being is therefore "involution".And "involution" is the same as the creation of the opposite of freedom, which is the same as "imprisonment".And this "imprisonment" takes place gradually.The eternal living being, elevated beyond time and space, must first be imprisoned in "matter"; it must be imprisoned physically or bodily.Then it has to be imprisoned "psychically" or "spiritually", which means, "mentally" or in terms of consciousness.With the culmination of this imprisonment, the effects of the being's experience of the eating of the "tree of knowledge" or "dying" are perfected.To "die" is in turn the same as being the subject of the most comprehensive or culminating ignorance of the laws of life, of oneself, of one's own cosmic or immortal nature as a son of God and master of time and space while possessing one's full freedom of action.But what is the use of possessing one's full freedom to act if one has nothing but complete ignorance to govern the will that is to use this freedom to act?Must the being's existence not then be the culmination of a life of mystery, a life of wrong interaction with the laws of life and thereby a life of catastrophic effects, a life of events and horrifying plights that it cannot understand? Since an absolutely perfect life is determined by complete compliance with or fulfilment of these laws, a life based on ignorance of these laws must be likewise and absolutely a completely imperfect life, a life that must be just as unhappy and full of suffering as the other is a state of bliss, a paradise of happiness and perfection.
