1612. Through the above analyses we have seen that "femininity" and "masculinity" are but stages in a cycle that the living being or son of God must pass through during its experience of eternal life. We have understood that some beings at a given point in time in this eternal life began to become "masculine", while other beings at the same point in time began to become "feminine". We know the "masculine" beings as "male beings", and the "feminine" beings as "female beings". We also understood from the analyses that these two kinds of beings were originally "double-poled", which is to say that the two sexual poles that are present in every being were equal. In such a state the being could be neither a purely "male being" nor a purely "female being". And for such beings existence must turn out entirely differently to how it does here in the life experience of the physical "male" and "female". Since these two one-poled states alone determined the primitive, dark mental state of the beings in question, in which they reach a peak of ignorance of their own immortality and elevated identity as masters of life, time and space, the opposite must be the case in the stages where the beings, because of the equality or balance of their two poles, do not exist as specifically "male beings" and "female beings". Since this opposite form of existence is not located on the terrestrial plane, it will remain, as long as the people here are still mainly one-poled beings, a figment of the imagination or a mystery for them.
