But even though neighbourly love is a matter of course for the advanced researcher or for mankind's great spiritual leaders, this does not mean that the more ordinary human being finds it easy to understand. Through all the other chapters and analyses in "Livets Bog" we have of course shown that it is a matter of breaking one's so-called "evil" habits and acquiring the ability to be good, understanding and forgiving. But when, in spite of everything, one is at this moment a being that is organically built to be able to love only beings of the opposite sex, and therefore finds the greatest happiness in being united with, or connected to, such a being, it may seem rather disquieting to think that this happiness will not last. Indeed, how can one even believe or perceive this to be true? The answer to this must be that it does not need to be a question of belief at all. If one really is one hundred per cent happily married, this is but an expression of the fact that the above-mentioned future new form of existence does not yet mean anything to one or have any connection to one. Indeed, in such a situation one must, if one is a man, strongly bear in mind that one is subject to the law that says: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh." And if one is a woman, one is subject to the same law that says, among other things, "... and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." And if one is one hundred per cent happy to let one's life or daily existence comply with this, then the promised future new state of life or real human kingdom is of course a matter of absolutely no importance. One does not yet belong to this species of beings or this budding new plane of existence and ought to live in compliance with the law of Moses or the marital morality of the old plane of existence.
