1638. We have thus now arrived at the innermost core principle of life itself, its heart function, its pulse. Is not this – the movement of all things between physical fire and coldness, or through stages of mental light and darkness – the breath of life itself, its inhalation and exhalation? When everything is in movement, is subject to transformation and thus cannot possibly continue in one and the same situation for all eternity, it is the result of life's own heart function and breathing. When war breaks out, centres of culture are destroyed and vast numbers of people are tortured, maimed or murdered, and when culture, humaneness, peace, happy fates, harmony and joy are created these are but the effects of the innermost structure and radiant force of the universe, the heart function and breathing of eternal life itself, and the "will of God" that ensues from this. The "highest fire" is thus this all-penetrating radiant force, this heart function, this eternal breathing of life, and this will of God.
