1651. The sexual state of the beings is thus not permanent. Since the two poles each have an eternal rhythm or movement, which here means a transformation from a state of latency to a state of culmination and back again, the beings cannot possibly continue being "males" and "females". In order to be a one hundred per cent "male being" the masculine pole in the being must reach its peak, and the feminine pole must be latent, while the opposite is a prerequisite for it being able to be a one hundred per cent "female being". These two polar constellations in the male being and the female being are not permanent, but change so that the culminating pole gradually stagnates and loses some of its power, while the opposite pole, after its minimum manifestation, increases its power so that the two poles in the being become equal to one another. In this state the individual has now become a being whose opposite pole has just as much of a say in its way of sensing and experiencing, and the exercise of will that arises from this, as the ordinary pole. Since the same development occurs in the structure of both sexes, so that the two poles in each of the beings become equal, the "male state" and the "female state" cease to exist. A being in whom the two sexual poles are equal is neither a "man" nor a "woman". And we have here before us an entirely new kind of being. The terrestrial man and woman are thus, by virtue of their sexual structure, on their way to an entirely different way of experiencing than that which they now represent. But since the sexual poles in both beings blossom in their balanced state after this development, the above-mentioned beings in this state constitute an entirely "new sex". It is a matter of course that this "new sex" has its own particular laws and conditions, just as the "male sex" and the "female sex" have theirs. Nothing in life's cosmic structure is chaos or chance. All phenomena in this structure have their capacity. But this capacity can be only the result of specific conditions that are met.
