1658. Since terrestrial mankind consists solely of beings who have incarnated in the very organisms or bodies that consist mainly of stone, water and air, at the same time as they are not day-conscious of their real, immortal or cosmic state, but believe that they are mortal beings and that they are at one with their body's combination of stone, water and air, it is evident here that for the moment this mankind is passing though the sphere of death of the cosmos or universe. This is further confirmed by the fact that the beings here are more or less "half-sex beings", and thus to a corresponding extent have only physical day-consciousness and are therefore without a realistic, cosmic faculty to experience. They are therefore to be regarded as unconscious or "dead" beings on the cosmic plane. This sphere of death is thus a zone of existence or domicile for beings whose consciousness, while devoid of cosmic knowledge, simply flourishes to a level of genius as regards physical and materialistic knowledge.
