But since such a mental state still allows the individual to be a fighter, a warrior, a killer or a murderer, the religions cannot possibly save mankind, and, from a cosmic point of view, this has never been their task. They are intended to be only a bridge to a yet more elevated attitude to life that can ultimately give the individual access to the "paradise" or "Eden" from which he has been "driven out".The "Bible" and the other leading religious traditions in the world have, however, been unable to avoid having to refer to the actual creation of darkness in the form of the story of the "serpent" and the "Fall", but only in order to support the downfall of this epoch. And we therefore see, in the way that the religious stories and traditions are constructed so as to favour the light, the first incipient emergence of the kind of mental epoch that will bring the individual into contact with God's most recent command: "Let there be light".And it is the incipient traditions of this epoch in the terrestrial human mind that is gradually perceived as "good".
