1672. Such an immense role is played by the organs for the "highest fire" in the living being's physical body! And yet the ordinary terrestrial human being actually regards these organs as something degrading, something one ought to be ashamed to mention, something that must be covered. The "fig leaf" is still current. "Adam" and "Eve" still feel "naked". Indeed, this "nakedness", for reasons that we will return to later, has become a "feeling of shame" of such dimensions that one has felt called upon to hide it with the rule of law. Failing to keep one's highest organs hidden has thus become a punishable offence. It is "indecent exposure" and an "offence against public decency" to openly and freely talk about these organs in the same way as one openly and freely talks about the other organs that make up one's physical body. The "fig leaf" has gradually become the "vice squad", "prison" or "punishment". That one is equipped with these organs for the continuation of life, these organs for the experience of paradise on Earth, for the experience of the highest bliss in connection with another being, which in turn means, the ability to get in touch with the keynote or wavelength of the universe or cosmos, has thus become a source of an entire sphere of ideas, a certain specific thought climate that is anything but "paradisiacal". Indeed, is it not this very sphere that is called "hell"? And is it not in this thought climate that we find all existing causes of war, unhappiness and suffering. And is it not also within the same thought climate that we find all kinds of deranged emotional states and perceptions of sexuality? And is it not here that we find crimes of passion in every shape and form? And is it not here that we have the zone of unhappy marriages with its widespread unfaithfulness and divorces? Is it not here that we have prostitution, this buying and selling of sexual satisfaction, this buying and selling of paradise in the same way as one buys any commodity whatsoever? Is it not here that one very often irresponsibly brings children into the world outside of marriage? Is it not here that the beings' foeticide and flight from parental duty or any feeling of responsibility for their offspring flourishes recklessly? Is it not within this same sphere of thought that all possible perverse, sadistic vices and tendencies contribute to darkening existence? And is it not here that we have the domicile of psychopaths, the insane and mentally retarded? In truth, here the fruits of the highest fire's organs have become a little tarnished. The superterrestrial pleasure, the heavenly fire has become choking smoke, cinders and ashes. It is not so surprising that the feeling of nakedness or shame dominates the sexual sphere of the terrestrial human being, and that one is not proud of one's organs for the "highest fire". It is not so surprising that the religions, reformers and moralists have pointed to sexuality as the greatest "evil", as something impure that completely denies access to "salvation" or "bliss". It is not so surprising that very strict laws of marriage and limitations on sexual pleasure have been laid down, making sexual pleasure permissible absolutely only when fertilisation is intended, and with the marriage certificate as the only legally valid passport to paradise.
