But all this terrestrial and superterrestrial glory would be an impossibility without the "highest fire".And this "fire" would be completely worthless if it did not manifest itself as a cycle, just as this cycle would in turn be an impossibility if it did not exist as a product of the alternating formation of the half sexes and the whole sex.Since terrestrial human beings, along with almost all the other beings on Earth, are "half-sex beings", this sexual state quite naturally dominates the terrestrial beings' consciousness.The terrestrial beings' consciousness and sphere of life thus represents a stage in the cosmic cycle that can be expressed as the "half-sex sphere".As previously mentioned, the bodily structure of the beings is at present that of "half-sex beings".This organic structure of theirs determines their view of life, their morality, their ways and customs.As the reader already knows, this half-sex structure, through its constellation of the sexual poles in the living being, causes a reduction in their experience of life.It reduces to a latent state this being's original ability to experience cosmically, thus rendering the being completely unable to retain its knowledge and sensory perception of its own immortal and eternal cosmic state and the rest of its associated knowledge of the true structure of the universe and the Godhead.But such an organised, gradual reduction of the experience of life or the consciousness is the same as being in the process of "dying".Thus the "half-sex state" promotes "death".The "half-sex state" is the same as the experience of "dying" or the effect of "eating of the tree of knowledge" heralded in the Bible.Did not God say to the original beings in the "garden of Eden" that they would "surely die", because they had eaten of the "tree of knowledge"?But is one to believe that it was a "punishment" they were to suffer?Is one to believe that it was an act of revenge on the part of Providence?Is one to believe that the all-loving and all-penetrating Godhead flew into a rage and got into an unbalanced state analogous with an angry human being when it verbally curses its neighbour, or in even more drastic ways takes out its anger on those around it?Indeed, it cannot be denied that within the world religions the beings' sphere of darkness is to a great extent perceived in this way.One is far too partial in relation to the light to be able to judge darkness fairly, coolly and soberly.One thus does not understand that darkness is just as necessary a link in the process of creation as light is, and that the experience of life would be completely impossible if darkness did not exist.One does not therefore understand that the biblical narrative about Eden contains an occult account of the Godhead's initiation or blessing of the beings in Eden into a future experience of the physical world or the winter zone of the cosmic spiral cycle.This blessing has later been perceived as the "Fall" with the subsequent "curse" and "punishment" from an indignant or angry Godhead.But is it not the initiation into the "half-sex state" that is related to us in the narrative about God's creation of "Eve" or "woman"?What kind of operation did "Adam" undergo?He lost a "rib" from which "woman" emerged.The emergence of "woman" gave rise to the "Fall", the "expulsion from Eden", the "curse of the Earth", painful childbirth and altogether all the various forms of suffering in existence.This operation in Eden opened the road to darkness, to cosmic unconsciousness and to the ensuing "sphere of death" or "hell".
