1680. The simple-minded being – for whom the Eden-operation can be perceived only absolutely literally – is in the process of disappearing from the face of the Earth. And the time has thus come for the divine innermost truth that is embodied in the traditional narrative of the Bible to be revealed to he "that hath ears to hear" and "eyes to see". The darkness in the world thus began when "it was not good that Adam should be alone". Where "Adam" was, there was only light, light and more light. One knew nothing of darkness, of death, of "evil". No "Fall" existed. Peace prevailed everywhere. The lamb lay down with the lion, and the animals allowed "Adam" to caress them. It is a matter of course that this account is also symbolic and is meant to express only the fact that in "paradise" or "Eden" one was free of all the animal traditions, massacres, assaults, persecution, fear and trembling and the struggle for one's daily bread. If lions, tigers and other beasts of prey lived only in order to caress the animals whose bodies, flesh and blood are a vital necessity for them as food instead of killing them, they could be neither tigers nor any other kind of death-dealing or murdering animal. Indeed, the biblical account thus expresses briefly and to the point that Adam's companions in Eden could not be animals that have the kind of structure that we know here on Earth. But what other kind of structure was it then that they were equipped with? Well, it had of course to be a structure that did not promote the death-dealing drive for self-preservation that animates the animals here on Earth. But the only structure that does not promote the killing principle or the animal traditions is the "whole-sex state". In Eden peace and happiness prevailed because the beings there were "whole-sex beings". And it is such a "whole-sex being" that we have become acquainted with under the concept of "Adam". In Eden there were thus no "Eves". It was not until after Adam's "operation" that such a being came into existence. But we are also told that Eden's other beings, that is Adam's fellow beings, were not beings that represented the animal, killing traditions. They were certainly mentioned using terrestrial animal names, but apart from that they had nothing in common with terrestrial animals. They deviate from these by having "angel consciousness". They therefore cannot possibly be equipped with any other structure for the highest fire than that which provides "angel consciousness", namely the "whole-sex structure".
