1687. In this all-outshining, gold-copied outer world, which is expressive of the being's experience of its individual inner world, we find the divine spark or germ of life that will become the "human being in God's image" in an incipient new spiral. This germ of life is the innermost analysis of the biblical "Adam". Adam's everyday consciousness consisted thus of him reliving in his memory his experiences of previous epochs as a being in a previous spiral cycle's real human kingdom, kingdom of wisdom and divine world. Since the being in the kingdoms or worlds in question has cosmic consciousness and talks to the Godhead like a man talks to his neighbour, it is not so surprising that the biblical narrative says literally that "they heard the voice of the Lord God, walking in the garden". But eternal life cannot be encapsulated in a mere "inner world", even if it is culminating bliss. For the details of this bliss were memories, memories are created things, and created things cannot possibly be eternal. They are perishable or temporal. And an eternal life cannot be experienced through a temporal thing, that is to say, a mere temporary thing, a perishable now. It can be experienced only through a thing that expresses eternity. Eternity can thus be expressed only through the eternal phenomenon that we know as the spiral cycle. God's "creation of the human being" had, thus, to consist first and foremost of getting this Adam, who is deeply immersed in its inner world, to wake up to life in the outer, material world. Unless Adam or the day-consciousness of the spiritual being could be led from its inner world to practical realistic experiences in the outer world, this being could not get to experience physically or mentally in this world, quite apart from the fact that this world could not possibly have come into existence. And the first thing we hear about this outer world's physical, material state is the biblical sentences: "And the Lord God said: It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper meet for him, who shall be with him."
