1704. Immeasurable spans of time and epochs of experience had thus passed since Adam had culminated in his spiral cycle and outgrown this form of sexual structure or organisation of his sympathetic faculties. Indeed, Adam had in fact lived for such a long time in the regions of light with the sexual structure that promotes neighbourly love, that is to say, in the domain where the highest fire culminates, that his waking day-consciousness had long since begun to "die". He had thus experienced the regions of light to a point of perfection. But when one has experienced a thing to a point of perfection, one's interest in this thing wanes and a hunger for a new sphere of interest is created. For every time one sees the same play, one loses some of one's interest in the play, and more and more wants to see a new play. The same holds true of novels, fairy tales and jokes. Here too the all-penetrating law of the principle of the cycle holds true. Experiences are born and die in the same way as physical organisms do. If this were not so, everything would stand still, everything would balance everything else out, and this balance would have to mean complete immobility, which is the same as an eternal death. The principle of the cycle causes everything to be born, to reach a culmination, and then to degenerate or be in a process of dying. This same principle brings spring, summer, autumn and winter into existence, just as it causes childhood, youth, maturity and old age. Eternal life consists of an eternal, continuous repetition of being born and dying, of remembering and forgetting, of being hungry and being satiated. We thus find the biblical Adam in a state of satiation with the light or the luminous existence in which he is situated. The fulfilment of its laws is no longer day-conscious knowledge but has long since become an automatic function. And new experiences of light have no interest. Here, Adam is completely satiated. His waking day-consciousness at this stage in the region of light is therefore obviously decreasing rapidly, and is heading rapidly towards unconsciousness. In the region of light Adam is "dying". And consequently, as his waking day-consciousness decreases on the outer plane of existence (the divine world), he must gradually be transferred to the spiritual plane's "sphere of death". Since this "sphere of death" cannot be an outer plane of existence, it must be an inner plane of existence. It is this plane of existence we know as the "kingdom of bliss".
