1723. With regard to the above, it is in fact only a fulfilment of the prediction of the world redeemer himself about the "Day of Judgment", the "last days" where everyone will be at war with everyone else, and where the "sheep" will be divided from the "goats". The world redeemer thus knew in advance that people could not live in accordance with his way of being at all. He knew that the difference between his perception and view of his neighbour and human beings' views of their neighbour was not merely a difference in will but was also an organic difference. He knew that, unlike them, he felt no desire to marry or dote on a being of the opposite sex; he knew, however, that he loved all living things from the bottom of his heart in such a way that he could not possibly have the heart to have any being suffer; he wanted everything to be a joy and blessing for everything. It was this feeling that governed him completely. It was the foundation of his mission, his life and way of being. And it is precisely this mental state, this psychic structure, that forms the basis for the process that in religious literature is called "initiation" and here in "Livets Bog" has been called the "great birth". This psychic or mental structure is the product of an organic function that constitutes an entirely different result of the highest fire than the marital structure. This sympathetic or loving state is just as fundamental as the marital state and is not a human invention or idea. It is a natural reality, a result of evolution in the same way as sight, hearing, smell, taste, artistic ability and other forms of mental or consciousness-related abilities and talents are.
