1725. Because of this mental state, this specific mental hunger, the being has thus entered its last phase of great dimensions. It has in fact gained a new sensory faculty. While it previously sensed more or less with its instinct and its brain, it now senses with its heart, that is to say, with its new sense of love. The keynote of the universe, universal love – which in fact governs all phenomena – is a world, an element that is present but concealed from the general public in the same way as light is present but concealed from a blind person. But just as the presence of light caused sight to gradually emerge in the living beings over thousands of years, so the keynote of the universe, that is, universal love, causes the sense of universal love to emerge in the living being. Through this sense, it becomes attuned to seeing everything without exception in the true light of universal love. This state has of course its cycle too, and is at first merely an inkling. But gradually this inkling develops to become intuition and thereby certainty. This certainty or knowledge is then, with the help of intelligence, put into words and given expression on the physical plane. If this cosmic knowledge or recognition of truth is to be transferred to less developed or primitive beings, it will be clothed in mental images or parables adapted to the cognitive ability of these beings. If, on the other hand, this cosmic knowledge is to be transferred to intellectually developed beings, it will be presented in absolutely realistic analyses. And these analyses are expressed as "cosmic analyses". Only through these analyses can the solution to the mystery of life be revealed. It is the bringing to life of this sense or faculty for universal love that underlies the emergence of the beings as "messiahs", world redeemers and sages.
