1737. So where and in whom is the sexual organ function considered to be purely and nobly divine and used as such? Is this function unblemished within marriage, where the guardians of morality, the clergy, to some extent tolerate and acknowledge it as the will of God? No, here we need not repeat the sorrows and sufferings of the marital sphere that we have already dealt with in previous sections of "Livets Bog" and have had to express as the "zone of unhappy marriages". No fact is surely more dominant than that neither the church, prison nor disgrace has been able to prevent this sexual life's escape from the enclosure or dam of all the current, thousand-year-old moral concepts. Sexual life today can be likened to a river that has burst its banks and broken out of its million-year-old riverbed as a physical organ of fertilisation. All human attempts to prevent sexual evolution or the transformation of the sexual poles in the terrestrial human being with moral concepts, imprisonment and punishment as well as with the disgrace, gossip and successful slander that has been a straitjacket or wall around the thousand-year-old, but long-since outdated, sexual dogmas, have been entirely futile. Indeed, this entire gallery of resistance against the sexual principle's normal and obvious evolution has long since had its confines burst by this inner psychic force, which the sexual evolution in the human being in itself is. Sexual life is bursting its dogmatic dams of morality everywhere. No human force can prevent it. The wisest thing to do would therefore be to attune oneself to the fact that here the divine will must be done.
