1739. Is it not then a misfortune or hindrance for the reproduction of mankind that the sexual organ function, in addition to promoting fertilisation, has also another mission? No, how could it in the present world situation be a misfortune? Are not enough people brought into the world to war and gas chambers, to need and misery, to illness, suicide and other kinds of far too premature death? What does one imagine that the world would look like if fertilisation took place after every intercourse? Does one imagine that the number of people on Earth could tolerate being increased tenfold, which, as we already know, does not even come close to the actual number that there would be if mankind's sexual satisfaction resulted in all the fertilisations that were within the limit of possibility? Would it not be more of a hindrance than a blessing if for every one person in a queue today there were fifty more? Would not these extra people lack flats or accommodation, food, clothing, work and so on? Here one does not need cosmic consciousness to be able to experience as fact that it would absolutely not be a blessing in the present circumstances on Earth if a greater number of acts of copulation than is the case resulted in fertilisation. It is thus a blessing that this does not happen.
