1756. It is as if the unselfish forces mentioned above exist without any demonstrable, visible, personal source. They are rays that go through the human sphere of consciousness and stem of course to a certain degree from the people themselves. They have the effect of turning people's selfish or egoistic undertakings in the direction of unselfishness. Ultimately they thereby become to a greater or lesser extent humanitarian undertakings. This shows that forces that are not specifically male or female emanate from people at their present cultural stage. They are not thoroughly masculine or feminine. They favour neither the male sex nor the female sex. On the contrary they tend exclusively towards protecting all beings, even though they focus mostly on human beings for the moment. But there is, however, punishment for neglect of and cruelty to animals, just as a protective arm is stretched out towards all created cultural assets, such as ingenious works of art within literature, music and pictorial art and so on. As we have seen, forces acting in an unselfish direction are released to no small extent in mankind's psyche. As mentioned above, these forces stem to a certain extent from the human beings themselves and prove that these beings are not exclusively selfish beings, but that forces not based on the love of mating, the worship of the male or female sex, emanate to a greater or lesser extent from their psyche.
