Nature's manifestation of love and the human being's unfinished or egoistic state
1757. When we look at the above-mentioned forces in more detail, we see that it is a matter of fact that they are analogous to the creative forces in Nature itself, where it is untouched by living beings. Is not the very transformation of the Earth from a glowing mass of fire to its present state as a luxurious residence for animal beings thus unselfish in nature? That the above-mentioned beings do not live happily on this planet is not the planet's fault. On the contrary, this is due solely to the animal natures of the beings themselves that control their thinking and exercise of will. The planet can provide enough food; it can provide enough material for the human enthusiasm for work, for human inventiveness and capability. There is enough food, light and fuel; indeed, these are so abundant that no one need go hungry, be cold or poor or worried about earning a living, even if they wanted to live in the polar regions of the Earth or in its sun-baked, burning deserts. With the means of transport and engines that Nature has gradually given mankind the possibility to create, and with which it controls millions of horsepower, all physical matter is at mankind's disposal. When this mastery of matter does not create happiness for mankind but creates war and more war, the breakdown of culture, need, misery, disablement, corpses, graves and piles of ruins, the cause can be only the selfish or egoistic forces, the exaggerated desire for ownership, nationalism or exaggerated patriotism, foolish, egoistic concepts of idealism, of honour or of one's relationship to one's neighbour that exist in mankind. But around this unfinished mental state of human beings and the Armageddon or hell this state has produced, the most beautiful natural scenery, the first blush of dawn and the afterglow of evening, wonderful sunrises and sunsets shine and sparkle in truly glorious orgies of colour. With frozen hearts and bitter minds people sometimes wander around in the warming light of the summer sun, breathing in the fragrant scents of meadow flowers and looking up towards the white summer clouds in the sky, while their cheeks are caressed by the gentle breezes of this summer day, completely unheedful of this wealth of caresses from Nature. They walk along beautiful, sun-drenched beaches with white sand dunes, lyme grass and glorious seaside life, and along other beaches with exotic charm, palm groves, people of colour and so on, but in many cases fail to see any of these revelations of Nature because they are completely taken up with condemning, speaking ill of and criticising other beings and things. They have filled their consciousness with dissatisfaction with almost everything. They are dissatisfied with the sunshine, they are dissatisfied with the rain, they are dissatisfied with the night, they are dissatisfied with the day, not to mention the great host of fellow beings that they have also ostracised. They believe that life is a brutal game of chance, and that they are innocent martyrs or victims of this presumed evil or devilish game. They completely forget that it is this presumed "evil" or "devilish game" that has been, and still is, the cause of the eyes they see with, the ears they hear with, just as well as it is the same misunderstood game that determines that they have a heart, a brain, lungs and all the other organs through which they can sense, feel and thereby experience life. They forget that it is the combined mission or purpose of these organs to give the individual an absolutely perfect organism, and that this organism, where the individual itself does not interfere with it and disturb it, succeeds so perfectly that it does not notice anything at all of the enormously complicated cooperation of this organism's hundreds of small organs. It does not notice that it has such an organism. It does not in itself disturb or bother the individual or cause it pain, but constitutes on the contrary a wonderful instrument in the service of the individual. Is it not hereby established as fact that it is a gift of love from Nature, a supplement to all the other above-mentioned benefits from the same divine creation? Thus it cannot be denied that the more the laws of Nature are discovered, explored and recognised, the more it becomes an unshakable fact that everything in Nature that is untouched or uninfluenced by the more or less developed beings is brilliantly logical and purposeful and works with a loving, divine or glorious end in view for all living beings everywhere without exception. That this cannot be disputed is established as fact in that nothing in Nature goes to waste, everything is utilised, everything is made to be useful or to do good and thereby be a joy and blessing for all living beings. Thus things are indeed caresses or expressions of love.
