1758. So here too the keynote of the universe proves to be love. But in the middle of the universe's zone of love, the living beings have their own sphere or zone, where they themselves intervene in things and direct or influence them with their feeling and will. That these things thereby reflect this influence is a matter of course. It is just as much a matter of course that this influence causes them to deviate from their original course and tears them away from the keynote of the universe to the extent that their desire and will are not in harmony with it. It is also a matter of course that a sphere or zone of consciousness arises in the beings' domain, a sphere or zone in which the opposite of or contrast to love, that is to say, unkindness, which in turn is the same as mental darkness, hatred, brutality, murder and killing, dominates. It is thus only in the part of the universe created by the individual itself that there can be mental darkness. Only the individual's own sphere of consciousness and the outer disharmony with the keynote of the universe that it itself has created can represent or constitute so-called "evil", "Armageddon" or "hell". And here this "evil" will continue to dominate just as long as this individual causes or maintains this disharmony with the keynote of the universe, regardless of whether all other beings have long since overcome it and have thereby become initiated or perfect beings. It is thus not the other living beings in existence that are to blame for our perhaps unhappy fate, just as we cannot either be to blame for their perhaps equally unhappy state. Everything in our fate that deviates from the keynote of the universe can be promoted only by our own nature, and with our own self or I as the most profound cause. Is this not divine? Can life be more just? That we come to live on a planet and in a sphere where there are like-minded beings, radiant and loving or dark and unloving, that we, respectively, come to live among depending on the stages we ourselves represent, is but a link in Nature's usual, logical and practical expression. Like-minded children play best together precisely because they understand each other best. That is why we see that birds of a feather flock together. That beings with the same nature come to live in the same sphere among the same kind of beings as themselves thus proves Nature's great love or keynote. It would be very unloving to make these loving beings live among men of violence or so-called "gangsters". And since all the manifestations of "evil" create pain and suffering and a consequential unhappy fate, while the manifestations of "good" or love create light and bliss and a consequential happy fate or contact with the keynote of the universe, which is the same as "God's image", thereby making the human being one with this image, this unshakeably determines that no living being whatsoever can continue being in the darkness. Through the unhappiness and suffering they will discover the light and thereby correct their spiritual and material course in accordance with this light. The identity of the universe's collected manifestations of light as universal love is thus established here as an unshakable fact. Even people's mistakes will become cosmic caresses, for it is through them that beings develop, gain experiences or knowledge of life's greatness and eternal facts, and thereby of their own identity with the Godhead, infinity and eternity.
