1769. At the same time as this fact becomes officially acknowledged science in the same way as knowledge of the specific reactions of material substances has become acknowledged science, mankind's troubles and sufferings, its "Armageddon", "hell" or the permanent "war of everyone against everyone else" will very quickly come to an end. All imaginable material and mental steps will then be taken as quickly as possible to inform everyone of this redeeming and liberating science and to make it common property in the same way as schools and institutes of further education now try to enable the general public to read, write and do arithmetic and to be co-workers in all materialistic, technical and chemical creative processes. It will then be realised that it is at least just as important to provide the general public with mental knowledge and skill, and thereby with knowledge of how to perfect their thinking and behaviour, as it is to train their material, craft, scientific and artistic skills. What is the use of being a great artist, scientist, craftsman or businessman when mentally one is an invalid or one is haunted by melancholy, anger, gall and venom towards all others or one is in a state of perpetual rivalry for knowledge and skill or for the favour of another person, for the favour of society, for the sympathy or admiration of one's fellow beings? Of what use is it that one can almost outshine all others in materialistic knowledge and skill when one's soul is embittered or martyred by discontent to a point of depression and suicide? What is the use of the same position of genius with regard to materialistic creation when one is consumed by unhappy love or other forms of mental and psychological disturbances to a point of nervous breakdown and the consequent other forms of mental or psychological misery? Is it not precisely such misery that mankind as a whole, as well as the single individual, is suffering from? Does not society have abundant knowledge and skill? Does it not consist of individuals with an all-outshining genius with regard to materialistic, technical and chemical knowledge and skill, and yet this mankind is experiencing the culmination of "hell", "Armageddon" or "the day of judgment"? How could this suffering come about if the beings were just as scientifically minded and brilliant in relation to psychic or mental forces as they are in relation to material or physical forces, materials or energies?
