The highest fire, through the two sexual poles, is the foundation of the light and darkness of the experience of life
1779. The highest fire is therefore at the root of all experience of life, its growth toward the culmination in light and its decline towards the culmination in darkness.Between these two extremes lies all existing conscious mental life, everything that can be experienced at all.In the passage of the intervening periods between the two extremes the living being's experience of life is created, for it is through this passage that the range of contrasts is created, without which any experience would be completely impossible. This contrast range is created automatically through the structure of the highest fire.Since this structure is thus intended to create the two great contrary culminations, namely, darkness and light, which recur in all configurations, such as hunger and satiation, evil and good, hatred and love, dissatisfaction and satisfaction, sorrow and joy, war and peace, as well as the leading cycles, namely, the cycle of matter, the twenty-four-hour cycle, the cycle of the year, the terrestrial life cycle and the spiral cycle, this structure can be divided into two corresponding sets of organic functions. We have already become familiar with these two sets of functions as the "masculine" and the "feminine" manifestations. The two corresponding sexual poles thus appear as the primordial organ for these two sets of functions that determine the experience of life.
